Surprising Link Between Obesity and Depression

A major contributor to genetic obesity also makes a person less likely to suffer from depression. The FTO gene has been found to make one 8-percent less likely to to have depression, according to scientists.

Not only does FTO affect depression, but could affect other psychiatric disorders as well. And though 8-percent does not make a huge impact, the findings do help mental health professionals better understand the various factors that create depression in a patient.
