Soccer Star’s Struggle With Tourette’s Syndrome
If you follow international soccer, you are already familiar with the name Tim Howard. He’s been the US Men’s National Teal goalkeeper for more than six years and stars abroad in the English Premier League. What many do not know, however, is that Tim Howard has Tourette’s.
On the MLS Soccer blog, Howard discusses how difficult his childhood was dealing with the “chaos of different tics”. But he also describes how important athletics was to him overcoming this obstacle.
Now, Howard strives to be a role model for other’s with Tourette’s and wants to raise awareness about it, especially among children. Hopefully, those struggling with similar obstacles can find Howard’s message and use it to get through difficult times.
