Mental Health Association Oklahoma’s Fashion and Talent Showcase
Tomorrow on Friday, May 6th, is an event you will not want to miss: the Thirteenth Annual Fashion and Talent show hosted by the Mental Health Association Oklahoma. The Mental Health Association Oklahoma hosts many worthwhile events throughout the year. This event, though, as Chief Executive Officer, Mike Brose, will tell you, represents the heart and soul of what the Association does to de-stigmatize mental illness and celebrate individuals in recovery from mental illness and substance abuse.
This year’s theme is “Putting on the Glitz”! Participants are treated as Queen or King for a day. They get a catered meal backstage, get their hair and make-up done, and get a great outfit to keep after the show. You will be knocked out by the talented individuals we have this year. We will also have “Artist’s Row” where participants will display and some will sell their art. You can stroll through and browse as well as read about how these artists use their creative expression to help them through recovery and life.
You will be inspired by this event! I don’t think you could find a better way to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, which is recognized in the month of May. For those at the Mental Health Association Oklahoma, though, every day of every month is about improving the lives of people living with mental illness.
