How Eating Disorders Affect Your Body Aside From Your Weight

Just about everyone knows eating disorders can have extreme effects on your body. But, most of the time people are only thinking about the drastic weight changes mostly associated with severe cases of anorexia.

The problem with this is that weight loss is only one of the many ways an eating disorder affects your body. The body needs proper nutrition to manage numerous systems, from fortifying bones and even keeping major organs functioning. Without it, the body starts to break down.

The most dangerous changes are typically on the inside, which is why eating disorders are the deadliest mental illnesses in the world. However, there are also several outward signs of eating disorders.

To highlight these issues and the widespread effects of eating disorders throughout the body, Revelist writer Emily Shugerman recently talked with Dr. Stephanie Setliff from the Eating Recovery Center in Dallas.

The outward signs can be useful for both those with eating disorders and worried friends or family unsure if a loved one has an eating disorder.
