Brookhaven’s February 2020 Seminar will be hosted on Wed. Feb 5th, 2020 and we will present “Utilizing Yoga for Self Care” by Brandi Gibson, LMFT, LADC, 200RYT. We will be offering 1.5 CEUs for LPC, LADC, LMFT, and LCSW as well as a catered lunch.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, more than 18% of American Adults suffer from an anxiety disorder and nearly 6.7% of adults suffer from major depression. Counselors, clergy, and first-responders are at a higher risk of experiencing secondary trauma and burnout from their careers. Yoga helps individuals by slowing down and staying in the present moment while focusing on the breath. In this presentation participants will learn yoga techniques to assist in decreasing personal anxiety, stress, and blood pressure. These yogic techniques may also assist in increasing job satisfaction, quality of life, and decrease chances of burnout.
Brandi graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma where she obtained her Bachelor of Education, and then she went on to Southern Nazarene University where she received her Master of Art in Marital and Family Therapy.
For over 15 years now, Brandi has worked with individuals and their families who experience difficulties with substance abuse, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, trauma, and sexual orientation. She is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
