DSM-5 Has Huge Impact On Transgender

With the adoption of the DSM-5, which I previously discussed in reference to its impact on autism diagnoses, ‘transgender’ will no longer be considered a mental illness. It seems shocking that it took this long to adopt such a seemingly obvious opinion, much like not considering homosexuals to have a mental illness, which only changed 39 years ago.

I urge you to read more about the impact of this decision in the Dana Beyer, Executive Director for Gender Rights Maryland and a trans person, article at Huffington Post.
