Anorexia Also Being Mistreated With Antipsychotics

Similarly, Catherine Pearson writes for the Huffington Post┬áthat antipsychotics and antidepressants are being widely used to treat anorexia, despite their being no evidence have a positive impact on a patient’s symptoms.

Though there have been preliminary trials conducted that show weight gain in patients using an antipsychotic, similar results were reached through the use of a placebo. Anorexia does share many traits of other psychiatric illnesses, which would suggest there is some reason to doctors attempts to treat it using drugs for other illnesses.
