Blood Test For Autism Could Be In The Works
For children with autism, early diagnosis and intervention makes an incredible difference. There’s been much work done to discover new ways to spot at-risk children and give them this advantage of an early diagnosis recently, and as Disability Scoop reports, a clinical trial will soon get underway to find the effectiveness of a blood test to identify autism.
The trial spans across 20 sites and will include 660 patients. It is sponsored by SynapDx, which is a laboratory services company specializing in finding a blood based test for the early detection of autism.
Experts say there’s a long road to travel before a blood test could become a trustworthy and widely-used diagnosis mechanism, but they call this a “good starting point.”
