Many therapists use social media for both personal and professional reasons. During his presentation Bowden McElroy explained where social media and Counselor Ethics intersect and how to manage one's online presence without violating professional responsibilities.

Speaker Profile

Bowden McElroy

Bowden received his Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Counseling Psychology in 1983 from the University of Central Oklahoma and his Bachelor’s degree in 1981 from Oklahoma State University. In addition, he has studied at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bowden has been in the counseling field for over 26 years. His work experience includes serving as an Associate Pastor/Church Counselor from 1983-1984 and working as a therapist in a Community Mental Health Center in 1985. From 1986 to 1996 he worked in Inpatient (psychiatric hospital) settings in both therapeutic and administrative roles. He has been in private practice in Tulsa since 1996. He also practices at Christian Family Institute in Tulsa, OK.
